Live Streaming on Facebook Using OBS Studio

   Multi-channel usability is one of the features that Livebox integrates as it helps in distributing content around the globe over multiple mediums efficiently. Through Livebox the users can send their live streaming videos to all media that supports RTMP sources. And Facebook is one such media which is supported by Livebox for 24/7 live streaming.
The following steps will provide you clear-cut representations to stream your videos in Facebook live using the Livebox streaming server.
  • Create your channel in Livebox.
  • Go to OBS Studio to encode your video source to Livebox streaming server.
  • From the navigation menu click Manage channels and under manage channels select Channel Dashboard and click Play to preview your video.

  • Now go to Push Destinations under Manage Channels.

  • A Push Destinations window opens, select your streaming channel and then click the Add Destination button located on the right side or the thunder button on the left side to select your destination.

  • A dialog box Share on with several destinations shows up. As you wanted to stream live on Facebook, select the Facebook option and click then Push live stream to Facebook to get connected to Facebook.
    Note: If you select the option Automatically TURN ON when adding push value, the live stream will automatically begin to happen in your Facebook destination once the live streaming set-up is done. Otherwise, you have to manually turn on the push value to continue your live streaming on Facebook.

  • In Facebook login page login with your credentials.

  • You are now logged in. Select your sharing option and click Next.

  • Once you click the Next button, a Connect your Live stream to the Live API Facebook page opens, you can minimize the window to see your Facebook destination being added in the push destination.
    Note: If you didn’t select the Automatically TURN ON when adding push value option, then you have to Turn On the push value to start your live streaming.

  • Then go to Facebook, where it starts to fetch your Livebox contents for streaming.

  • Your contents are now fetched, so you can give nice description and title to your stream and also decide the audience to share your live stream with.
  • Then click on the Go Live button on the right bottom corner.
  • You are now on live streaming on Facebook.

  • After clicking OK, a dialog box Properties for Media Source gets opened. In Properties for Media Source, select the required options for your streaming and then click Browse.

  • Once you click to browse you get accessed to your local files where you can browse and select your source. Then Click OK and your source is added.

  • Now go to Livebox and select Manage channels from the navigation menu and click Streaming URL button to copy the Stream URL and Stream Key.

  • Now go back to OBS studio again and select Settings under the menu Controls.

  • A whole Setting tab will be opened and click Stream.
  • By clicking Stream, a new page with an empty URL bar and stream key bar get opened where the copied Stream URL and Stream Key has to be pasted respectively. 
  • Then click OK.

Live Streaming Using vMix

  Livebox streaming server is multidimensional in nature, it can encode, stream and, transcode by working alone. At the same time, the Livebox server is also adaptable enough to go along with any many encoders or streaming software. vMix is one such streaming software which is supported by Livebox. Though Livebox works with external software, still the streaming process is simple and easy.
The following steps will give you the understanding to use vMix with Livebox.
  • Create your channel in Livebox.
  • Go to vMix and click Add Input from the bottom left corner.

  • A dialog box Input Select opens, where you can click Browse to add your source to vMix.

  • After selecting your source, click OK. And your source is added.

  • Now go to the Livebox Channel Dashboard under Manage Channels from the navigation menu and click Streaming URL to copy the streaming RTMP URL.

  • Then go to vMix and click Stream. A new dialog box Streaming Settings opens, where you can enter the copied streaming URL in the URL tab and enter Stream name or Key. And then give Start.

Live Streaming Using Wirecast

   Livebox being a streaming server by itself, easily supports any other encoders or streaming servers. Wirecast is such streaming production tool which is supported by Livebox and offers smooth streaming workflow to Livebox users. Follow the below instructions to start streaming.
  • Go to Livebox and create your channel.
  • Now go to the Wirecast main window, and click the icon add source icon to add your source.

  • Many options to add your source appears.
  • To capture and add your USB webcam source, you can click the option Video Capture and to stream live your local files, click the Add Media File option and select your local files.

  • Your source is added. As you wanted to live stream click the icon wirecast icon to push your source to Live Broadcast Area.

  • After pushing your source to live broadcast area, click Output located at the top left side.

  • Under output’s pulled-down menu, click Output Settings.

  • A Select an Output Destination dialog box opens, where choose your destination as RTMP Server and click OK, and a new output setting tab opens.

  • Now go to Manage Channels from Livebox navigation menu and copy the streaming RTMP URL.
  • Then paste the RTMP Streaming URL in the Address box and enter the stream key in Stream bar and give OK.

  • To check your live stream go to Livebox Channel Dashboard and click play to preview your live stream.

To Transcode using OBS,
  • Create your channel in the Livebox streaming server.
  • Then go to OBS studio and click the icon add source icon from the tab Source.

Now to take the source from your server channel to output channel to conduct successful transcoding, follow the below instructions.

  • Under Manage Channels, go to Transcoding.

  • A Transcoding page opens up and you can select your channel where streaming is on by clicking the drop-down menu given in the Select a Channel option.

  • In Output Channels, select the channel where the video has to be transcoded. Then give Turn On near transcoding.

  • Once you give the turn on, new options for transcoding shows up, where you can set the Preset. And then click Save.
    Note: Livebox will generate both Transcode Output URL and Transcode Embed Code.

  • After clicking save, give Service Restart to get your changes applied.

  • Now go to the Livebox Dashboard where you can check the transcoding quality of your output channel near the bottom right corner.

  • To check RTMP stats of your streaming channel go to the Viewers Report.

  • And when you embed the output channel streams on your website, you can copy the Transcode Embed URL to publish the live stream on your website.
